
Peter Kreider is an artist, fabricator and educator who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He was born and raised in Lancaster, PA and received a BFA from the NY State College of Ceramics @ Alfred University (’95) where he studied sculpture and glass making. In 2004 he earned an MFA from the Tyler School of Art @ Temple University.
As a visual artist, Kreider has exhibited throughout the US & abroad at galleries including: White Columns, Cuchifritos, PICA & the Cooley Gallery and completed public art commissions for Socrates Sculpture Park & the Public Art Fund in New York City. His artwork concerns the intersection of wonder and understanding and primarily takes form in sculpture, drawings and photographs.
Concurrent to his own artistic practice, Kreider has also worked as a hired gun serving the advertising, design, and film industries in NYC for more than 12 years. His extensive experience working with top artists, fabricators and model shops has given him a unique expertise and the insight to match the most challenging design problems with elegant material solutions.
In recent years, Kreider has taught and lectured in Art Departments of leading Institutions including: Reed College, PNCA, Tyler School of Art, Long Island University and NYU. His diverse experience in art and design makes him uniquely qualified to teach with an emphasis on both conceptual development and material problem solving. Along with teaching traditional sculpture and drawing classes, Kreider has also written specialized curriculum for studio/seminars focusing on contemporary issues.
